Biotherm Aquasource Everplump Night Sleeping Mask Review

If you’ve ever wondered why getting enough rest is called “beauty sleep” the answer stems from our body’s natural healing cycle. As we snooze, a vital regeneration process occurs that benefits our skin, metabolism, cognitive functioning and overall health. Biotherm has ingeniously attempted to enhance your bedtime routine by creating a night mask that is activated by exposure to darkness. Just when I though I’d seen it all, the brand has managed to conceptualize something completely new and unique!

The mask is infused with micro-algae - a type of nocturnal aquatic plant that releases “energy generators” when activated by the dark. This boost of cell-stimulating energy is then used to enhance and preserve the skin’s moisture reserves with water locking ingredients that create a smooth, skin-like layer.

The texture of the mask reminds me of blackberry Jello (jiggle and all) but as you apply it, the jelly melts in and transforms into a luminous serum before settling into a lightweight layer of suppleness. The scent (like most of the items in this range) is fresh and a bit perfumy but I’ve been using it for over a year without experiencing any adverse reactions.

Along with replenishing benefits, the formula also plumps, firms and promotes elasticity for up to 48 hours of hydration. In the morning my skin is smooth, soft and a little dewy with no greasiness. Everplump Night retails for $64.00.

For day care, the Aquasource Everplump ($60.00) is like a refreshing drink for the skin with loads of weightless hydration and a blast of hyaluronic acid born from aquatic biology. The gel feels cool and invigorating (especially on hot summer days) and it absorbs quickly with a supple finish. If you like long lasting moisture without heaviness or oil, this formula also works well under makeup by creating a smooth silky texture with no shine. At night I like to layer it over the Life Plankton Essence which you can read about by clicking HERE.

Let’s just take a minute to talk about this amazing brush applicator that comes with some of the Biotherm masks and serums. It is the perfect no-mess tool for slathering on face masks, including gel, clay and cream textures without getting your hands dirty. The flexible silicone is easy to rinse clean and pat dry which prevents bacteria accumulation.

Since pouty lips are on-trend, Biotherm has released the Aquasource Plump & Glow naturally rosifying balm to enhance your skin’s natural color. The formula is infused with a mint plant derivative that activates mico-circulation to make lips appear full and feel revitalized. Usually I stay away from products that tingle or sting but this balm feels comfortable and nourishing with a mild sensation of coolness and lots of lightweight, glistening moisture. The balm retails for $23.00.

Biotherm is available at Shoppers Drug Mart, The Bay, Rexall, Sephora and online at biotherm.ca
